Hi friends,
I've been busy going through the samples sent by the factory, and we also were in a holding pattern for a bit during Chinese New Year, but now we're getting close to the finish line.
I had promised some videos and was going to unbox each of these, but I've struggled getting my setup to work so I figured videos can wait. Below I've got samples for everything except The Wretched Journey, which is the last thing we're waiting on. Once I get that from the factory and they make a few small adjustments we'll be ready to manufacture.
We've been fixing minor issues along the way, including going for a thicker cover on the Art Book and Major Arcana so they don't feel flimsy. We've corrected all of the issues I mentioned in past updates too.
I'll do the next update once i have the Wretched Journey sample, and I'll also set a final date for the pledge manager and give you an updated timeline. Thanks for your patience!
Village Attacks Core Game
The core game hasn't changed much, but in my opinion the updated packaging is far more convenient. With the original game I found myself sticking cards or tokens under the bottom tray just to get the box to close, but that shouldn't be an issue here.
I've removed the dashboards, but they fit in this top tray nicely.
Below the top tray are the two miniature trays with a clear lid. The miniatures fit a little better into these trays than the original, in my opinion.
Village Attacks: Grim Dynasty Reborn
I'm a fan of the trays in Grim Dynasty too. Below the dashboards there is a cutout that holds the tokens.
Ignore the missing miniature, your box will come with all six of each model.
Castle Heart
Dragon Clan
Ignore the white bases, those are just leftovers used for the sample.
Moguai
Artefacts
Heroes of Legend
Judgement & Reckoning
Notice anything off? We got double monster miniatures over here. We're clearing this up and including a cutout for the bases.
The Troll
Nothing major changing here, except that the tray is deeper than the original version, which makes it a little less likely to bounce around in the box.
and that's it. I'll do the next update as soon as I have The Wretched Journey in hand!
Samples Are Here!

Hi friends,
I've gotten the next batch of samples in the mail, you can see the spread below:
I've only opened a few so far, but I'm going to go through them over the next few days and try to do some videos for a few of these. So far there are no issues, and the cardboard and plastic component quality is excellent.
I need to figure out a video set up and how best to approach them, but I'll do an update once those are available, and will likely put them on YouTube.
We're only waiting on a few more boxes including the Wretched Journey, the Core Box, and Grim Dynasty. We're also waiting on Artefacts after one of you helpfully noted they had the wrong mix of miniatures in the video they provided last time. That's been cleared up.
A Peek at the Core Box Trays
I haven't received the core box sample yet, as one of the most time consuming aspects from the manufacturer's side was a redesign fo the trays. They don't include major changes, especially to the miniatures, but the bottom tray that holds the other components has seen some tweaks that in my opinion will make packing and unpacking the game much easier.
Ironing Out Small Issues
so far, getting these samples in hand has been very beneficial. the boxes fit together well and the quality is great. We've also picked up on a few things that we've been able to clear up before we go into production including:
Missing rubber bases
The Wretched Journey box is not deep enough
Wrong miniatures in the Artefacts expansion
We're also making some minor changes to all of the boxes to comply with EU law.
Heading Toward Production
We're very close at this point, with the sample core box and Grim Dynasty the main thing left to review. Once I get a copy of everything in hand and iron out any additional issues.
Once I get the final samples in hand and everything looks good, I'll set a final day to close up the pledge manager. Thanks again for your patience!
Happy New Year!

Hi friends,
Happy new year to you and yours. here is where we are at with Grim Dynasty. On Christmas Eve, the factory let me know that while some of the samples are ready, there were issues with the packaging for the others and they would need to do more tooling to get them right. They agreed they would send me the samples of what they are happy with as soon as possible, but I don't have a firm date on that. What remains is primarily components for the Grim Dynasty expansion itself, and they hope to have it ready within the next few weeks. I'll give an update when I have more on that.
During this process, we also discovered that we will need to adjust the box size of The Wretched Journey, as the additional punchboards for using them both as monsters and town heroes means we're tight on space. We're working on that now.
I had hoped to have this done by now, but it's mostly a waiting game at this point. I apologize for the delays, but I think the final product will be worth it. We're getting close!
Production Photos and Videos
I do have some more images from the factory to check out! Based on the dyes the factory had available, I decided to go with the traditional gray for the miniatures for all of the monsters, heroes, and legendary heroes to match the existing expansions. We went with black miniatures for the militia, white for the tactician, and clay red for the Dragon Clan.
This picture isn't the best quality, but you get the idea. Ignore the gray base on the dragon clan, they will be red in final production.
I also have a few videos of the expansions that are finalized, starting with the Moguai. Note that in the final product, the packaging will be transparent.
Rubber bases are ready
the Artefacts expansion is good to go. Note that in final production these trays will be transparent.
Castle Heart
Pledge Manager Update
The pledge manager will remain open until I've gotten all the samples and give the green light. Once I am happy with everything, we'll set a closing date for the pledge manager, likely within the following two weeks. Then, it's time to begin manufacturing.
Thanks again for your patience. I don't like delays, but waiting to see the samples myself has already allowed us to correct multiple issues, so I have no regrets on that end.
Reviewing Some Samples

Hi Friends,
We're largely waiting on the factory to complete a sample of each game and expansion and send it to me to review before mass production, and I've got some pictures and video to share of that. I'm told that all of the cardboard has been produced, and they're finishing up sampling on the plastic components before sending it to me. I asked when that might be and will let you know what I hear back.
Before we take a look at the samples, I also wanted to mention i'll be charging cards tomorrow, reach out if you have any questions on that.
Production Update: Samples and Tabletopia

Hi friends,
I have few interesting bits that I thought warranted an update. First and foremost, we're now just waiting on the production of the sample. The factory is making one of each expansion and sending it to me to ensure we got everything right. This helps us avoid painful errors that aren't caught until fulfillment begins, like the undersized game mats with The Everrain. I don't have an ETA on those but shipping from the factory to the U.S. has been pretty quick so far, hopefully I'll have those in hand in a few weeks. As soon as I do i'll make an unboxing video, and assuming everything looks right we'll start manufacturing.
Here is a short video from the factory with some finalized components, including the new bases, the stand for the trips, the metal coin, and the core game dice. Note that these are not the final colors for the plastic pieces.
Tabletopia
Village Attacks is now live on Tabletopia! It includes the Core Game at the moment, and it's running very smoothly in my testing. For now, only the core game is available, but if people end up playing it enough to warrant it, we'll add Grim Dynasty next.
The game is on the free tier, meaning you don't need to pay for a premium Tabletopia account to play. You can check out Village Attacks on Tabletopia here.
