Slickerdrips is going live with a Grim Dynasty playthrough shortly
about 1 year ago – Fri, Mar 28, 2025 at 08:51:57 AM

Slickerdrips has a live playthrough of Grim Dynasty Reborn at 11:00 A.M. central time, which is 16:00 GMT. I'll also be dropping into the stream briefly to say hello before it gets rolling! If you haven't had a chance to see the game played with the expansion content, this is a good chance. It will be available to watch on demand if you can't make it.

New Add-On and Your Feedback on Miniature Colors
about 1 year ago – Wed, Mar 26, 2025 at 08:25:26 AM

Hi friends,

Quick update with two points of interest: A new add-on is available, and I'm looking for feedback on the color of the miniatures!

New Add-On: Core Game Kickstarter Exclusives

By popular demand, i'm making the Village Attacks Kickstarter Exclusives from the original core game campaign available as an add-on. This includes two miniatures, a dashboard, tokens, card, and two rubber bases for the Revenant monster and the Grimlord town hero.

Please keep in mind this add-on is included in the following pledge levels:

  • Core Game
  • Core Game + Expansion
  • Big Bundle

This is ideal for anyone who already has the core game but never got the exclusives.

Mini Colors

One of the things we want to do with Grim Dynasty Reborn is add some new colors to the miniatures, and I want your thoughts and suggestions. Keep in mind our primary goal is consistency,  so we're going to leave the color of the minis in the core game unchanged. The monsters and town heroes in Grim Dynasty will also be the traditional gray you're accustomed with.

We have some options for some of the new aspects of the campaign however, including the tacticians, militia, and legendary heroes. I'm also open to making the Dragon Clan a distinct color as well. My original thoughts for the miniature colors in Grim Dynasty Reborn and related expansions are as follows:

  • Monsters: Gray
  • Artefact Miniatures: Gray
  • Town Heroes: Gray
  • Moguai: Gray
  • Legendary Heroes: Gold
  • Tactician: White
  • Militia: Clay Red

I'm leaning toward keeping the Dragon Clan gray, but I'm open to feedback!

Legendary Heroes in Gold
The Tactician in white, the Militia in Clay Red

What's in the Kickstarter Exclusives?
about 1 year ago – Mon, Mar 24, 2025 at 12:46:13 PM

Hi friends,

Time for a quick update since we've had some questions about the Kickstarter exclusives. Admittedly, the graphics for this could have been clearer!

What I think we've failed to communicate well is that there are two sets of exclusives: the ones from previous Grim Dynasty campaign that I posted about before (The dashboard and tokens to play the Moguai and Troll as monsters), and the exclusives from the original Village Attacks campaign. I'll dive into those exclusives in a moment, but the simplest way to understand what you'll get is that if you back a pledge tier that includes the core game, you'll get the original exclusives. If you back a tier with the Grim Dynasty Reborn expansion, you'll get the new stuff. It breaks down as follows:

  • Expansion Pledge - Grim Dynasty Exclusives
  • Core Game Pledge - Village Attacks Exclusives
  • Everything New - Grim Dynasty Exclusives
  • Core + Expansion - Both
  • Big Bundle - Both

So what does the original Village Attacks exclusives include: Here's a picture:

That includes the Revenant monster dashboard and tokens, the Grimlord Town Hero card, both miniatures and rings. The Revenant has a lot of synergy with its abilities, as The Returned limits the risk to the Castle Heart when you are slain, while Living Bomb slay yourself in exchange for dealing substantial damage to the zone you are in.

The Grimlord, which if you look closely at the art is the still-living version of the Revenant, is a tough option for a town hero as it continiously musters peasants to its side each turn.

I hope that better explains the available exclusives, and we'll work on updating the graphics on the story to make that clear. Thanks again for you support!

Add-on Review: Major Arcana brings all the art and more missions
about 1 year ago – Fri, Mar 21, 2025 at 09:13:44 AM

Hi friends!

As we're approaching the final 10 days, I'm going to dive into some of the add-ons and expansions that are new to Village Attacks. I'll do some of those in video form, but this time around we're going to take a quick look at Major Arcana - the art book specific to Village Attacks: Grim Dynasty Reborn. First, I wanted to note that for this campaign Major Arcana is only being printed in English. Hopefully we'll add other languages in the near future.

First and foremost, this is more than just an art book! Clocking in at 52 pages, Major Arcana comes with 21 brand new missions designed by Paul Rose, who has crafted a lot of the missions for this game. Long-time players will recognize some missions that were previously given away via the Grimlord Games website as well as some new options.

The good news for all backers is that Major Arcana only requires the base game. While some of the missions have themes that fit with Grim Dynasty, they are playable with the base game alone. You can of course incorporate new monsters and heroes from any of the expansions.

Major Arcana also offers a print version of all of the beautiful art from the Grim Dynasty Reborn expansion, from concept art to final renderings.

Between Major Arcana and the Village Attacks art book, you can add a tremendous number of missions that do not require other expansions to play. If either sounds like something you need in life, be sure to add it to your pledge.

Next time, we'll take a closer look at the Dragon Clan.
